Here's a question I've been meaning to ask: to those of you who have employees, do you have them use their own vehicle? Or do you have a fleet that they use.
My old franchisee friends had their employees drive their own vehicles. It's how the franchise trained us. But I never really liked that idea because it really puts a burden on the employees.
I like the idea of having a fleet of vehicles. Vans (probably minivans) for carrying equipment for big jobs and little hatchbacks for route work. Something like a Nissan Versa can carry a 13' little giant and everything someone would need for route work. And for big houses, I could send a van + hatchback and get it knocked out.
The hatchbacks get like 30 mpg and with little tires, they'd be super cheap to maintain.
So I'm leaning towards a fleet but was curious what the big operators did throughout the country.
