Tax info for my business

`I just started my business at the beginning of July and I have bought a lot of stuff and driven a lot of miles. I live in Tennessee. I bought a business license and they had me specify how much money I was going to make, If I specified less than $10,000 a year than they said I dont have to apply for a state business license. I have no idea about what that means but I assume its for some tax reasons. Right now I am making $400-$500 a month but I expect to grow but not very much. The question I have is what expenses should I be counting and how? I write down my mileage and I have kept receipts for everything I have bought for my business but is there much that I am missing? I use my car for both my business and personally so I dont know what I can and cant count as far as maintenance and other stuff. I wash my gear in the washing machine about 2 times a week but I wouldnt know how to estimate what that is worth or costing me. Also was it smart for me to get a business license or should I just go out and look professional and do my little jobs here and there? I dont know what the advantage of having a business license is? It is just me so I dont have any employees. What is the advantage of a business license?
