The other day I was going through our incident/complaint folder for last year and happened across this event.
We had been cleaning for a one customer for many years. Last year we told him the price was going up. When he sent in the payment he also sent in a photocopy of his bill. He changed the total to a lesser amount!
So I called him up and he asked "How do you know I did it? Your guy must have written down the wrong amount!" I told him he writes his number 9 in a very unusual way (it is all boxy instead of having curves) and that it looks exactly the same on his check. I told him we are never doing work for him again. Didn't bother asking for the remainder he owed us. At least the check did not bounce.
