Reach-It Mini for Sale

I purchased a Reach-It Mini, and an 11 foot Extension, last July. I was never able to get the clamps to work to my liking. In the meantime I bought a Facelift Phoenix X, that I like really well. So, I'm willing to sell my Reach-It Mini. I just put new clamps on it. Of course, it doesn't look brand new, because we put a few months use on it. I paid $1,066 for the Mini and the XT. If you're interested, make me an offer. You can reach me at ba.windows@gmail.com Thanks

5/16" or 1/4"?

I'm figuring out a WFP system, with the intention of starting my window cleaning business in the spring. I plan to have a 100 gal tank of purified water in my truck. I've seen some people recommend 1/4" hose and others 5/16". I'm planning on doing mostly residential, but may also venture into four-storey commercial windows. Are there advantages to using one size or the other? Specific recommendations on brand/type? Or just get lots of the cheapest available?

Thanks

Ross

Why I like Window Cleaning better than Engineering

satellite_screwup.jpg

I never made the million dollar screw up. But I did fry a $70,000 SGI computer machine back in the day. Hey, it's not my fault their PCI functionality didn't adhere to spec. Swap out an oscillator on my board and pop into a different machine and MY board came back up.

Custom BOAB

I've been thinking about designing my own boab and was curious if anyone else has given thought to The Perfect Boab. I'm a huge fan of the Ninja, but it struck me last week that if I made one change... it might totally rock the boab world. I think I got a good enough idea I might actually spend the money to get it mocked up, and then 3d printed for a beta test, and then get injection molds made. I might even patent it since it'd truly be unique.

So while I'm thinking on what would make a perfect boab, I curious if anyone wanted to put in a request for features.

I'm thinking 22" scrubber slot might be standard or at least an option.

I'm also thinking it needs to hold at least 2 squeegees, maybe 3.

Big rivet to allow it to rotate while bending down and prevent quick rust out (my biggest beef with the pulex boabs).

If anyone knows who runs unger's R&D department, I'd rather have them build it since it would cost a lot of duckets to get the thing into production. They could call it the Samurai. I'd probably call it the Bob Bucket. Or maybe The Boss.

Hello

Hey all,

I stumbled upon the site here and first impression was that someone has a good thing going here. Tons of traffic, things for sale and very active. Plus something from this forum popped up during my google research for almost everything I typed. I first assumed the site was probably best suited for profiting its owners and not really much else.

I was wrong. There is tons of info here. It's actually pretty cool and I've lost a fair amount of sleep reading through as much as I can during the last two weeks.

So; My name is Logan and I actually was schooled for mechanical design and engineering but after a few years in the field I just started to hate my work. I am very quick to learn on computers and I'm good at it. So... employers always end up wanting me on computers.Problem is that I hate sitting on a computer for 10 hours a day. I changed my mind and got out of that career path. It just wasn't for me and growing up with self employed parents I always felt the urge to take a similar path.

My mother was a self employed cleaner for 25 years (Mainly new construction and some offices). She is now semi retired and only does work with a a few of her best customers (builders). I grew up working for her and have now (very recently) opened my own commercial cleaning company.

I'm here because while doing move out cleanings I've been asked to do windows. At first I said no but then I went and bought some equipment to do insides and the cleanings went slow but turned out good.. Bottom line though, I see tons of opportunity in my area and because of my current contacts I know I can get into some window cleaning work. I'm completely unwilling to advertise or seek window cleaning work until I am confident that I can provide a quality service.

So... That is what brought me to the forum. Hopefully I can ask for some help along the way and even be able to help others out with questions that I may be helpful on with my background.

Last part of my very long introduction: Since my goal is to learn the business and gain insight into the entire process; it only makes sense that I have a question right? I'm wondering if there are specific book/DVD sets that people would recommend for a starter? Preferably something that really goes over as much details as possible and starts at the basics?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the helpful information on this forum quite a bit. Good stuff!

Logan

DI Tank help

Ok so I'm back to work with my new WFP almost ready to go. One question, should I mount it on my van or use it to go with me closer to the buildings. It's a smaller tank my first. It seems to reason for me at least the tank should be mobile but I'm afraid it may tip over while working. I understand it should not be laid on it's side.

Work comp in California jumped 10% this year

Question Starting my business

Hello everyone. Great stuff on this site. Perfect resource. I'm working on starting my WC business in the spring. I'm 36y/o and feel this is a business that I can do, to start, by myself. I'm a career fireman and live in NJ. I know there's plenty of threads for just about anything on here. I was hoping for some input on tools, marketing, pricing etc from you guys who have been doing this a long time. I've watched a lot of videos and have been practicing on my own home. Any info would be great. Thanks

Starting WC and gutter cleaning

Hello to all, I'm strongly considering starting a WC/ gutter cleaning business. I have done a ton of research on line and on this web site (which is awesome). A lot of valuable info within all of the threads. My concern is with marketing. There is soooo many different ways to do it, a little overwhelming to say the least. So with that being said I was hoping for some input on the best ways to advertise. Im really excited and ambitious to get this started. Also pricing is another factor, I live in NJ, so I'm not really sure what the going rate is. I'm 36 y/o and work as a fireman, so I have time off to get jobs done. I would like to start small, at the same time I want to get my name out there. I've been practicing techniques on my own windows, using Home Depot equipment. I would def get professional equipment when I start. Watching videos, etc. thanks in advance.

Video: Storm Station

Here is a look at the Storm Station in action. You will find it to be a very stable unit to clean small and large triple track storms as well as Pella removable storm panels . Having the wash bin at your figure tips saves your back. Plus it can be used to clean screens of all sizes. Just disconnect the tube and let the dirty water run out the back away from your wash bin.

carbon vs aluminum

Hi Guys,

I have a reach it mini...its made of carbon fibre...a friend of mine has the unger aluminum pole...both are similar sizes....

I used his aluminum pole today...my back and arms are killing me!! What a difference in the swaying of the pole it was twice as hard to use than my carbonfibre..

So now im wondering how the high modulus poles are; Anyone can tell me through experience the difference between high M and just carbon ..is it as big as aluminum and carbon fibre or is it really minimum;thx

Almost killed in Truck Accident

I am posting this as a reminder to all of us who drive a lot of miles. Be careful. Last week we narrowly averted a head on collision with a farm combine on a two lane road. My truck was destroyed but because I leaned over to the right at the last minute I avoided the metal pieces of the combine's ladder that came through my windshield. Remember, any day you leave for work might be your last. Be careful. I give all my thanks to my God that he spared my life in this one...
