Question Walkin away from a job - whats your painfull customer threshold!

Just wondering if anyone has just walked away from a job. I mean literally just said "no that's it, I'm not continuing"

Everyone has a PITA threshold. I'm intrigued as to how much you would put up with.

Personally, I've never left a job, but I did tell one customer a few home truths about her expectations and gladly left without charging her! Best $100 I never got!:D

Website for review and suggestions.

Hey everyone,

I have finally made the jump and opened the window cleaning business here south of Atlanta, GA. Several of you guys listened to my gripes about my current job and encouraged me to start the business.

Well here I am now with a website that I am wanting feedback on. I did it all myself using wordpress and a theme. The thing I want to do now is show up in the search results for neighboring cities. I'd like any advice on that. I did also get my business on google places which has already yielded one job so that is promising. Just so you know I looked at a lot of your websites for direction for this one. In particular I really liked Jesse's web site Sparkle king, I liked his pricing guide. How has this worked for anyone that has a pricing guide on their website? I've heard some are for it and some against. Anyways, any advice would be appreciated. And I am aware of the picture that won't show up about 3/4 down the page.

Question Alternative to scrapers/blades

Does anyone have any alternatives they use to get things, stuck on windows, off? Something that would fit on an extension pole? I'd like to get away from using blades as much as possible.

eClean's Latest is Now Online: All About Employees (and a whole lot more)

Just in time for the Spring hiring season, the new eClean Magazine is online and focusing on employees: hiring, managing and motivating. This months' cover story features lessons from Curt Kempton of 5 Star Window Care and how he turned his company's biggest frustration -- i.e., his employees -- into his biggest asset. Just a reminder: Curt will be the keynote speaker at next week's Northeast Pressure Washing Seminar and Networking event (www.pw-seminar.com). I, for one, am really looking forward to Curt's presentation on systems.

Inside this eClean you'll also find a boatload of additional articles as well as links to two fun video recaps from the IWCA National Convention in Memphis.

Check it out at www.eCleanMag.com. (Note: print copies will be available to order in a few days.)

Updated pricing of storefronts

Hey everyone,

Longtime reader, first time writer......I wanted to get some updated pricing info for storefronts. I've found some older threads with pricing from 2007 that range from $.50 to $2.00. Is that still the going prices?

What are you charging? Outside? Inside? 10 windows + or less than 10? Weekly? Monthly?

Talking RHINO Clamps : ARROW-LOCK

IMG_3572.PNG

ARROW-LOCK is one of the new features in the RHINO Clamps

This is just one part of the new Dual Locking Systems that could revolutionize the way you think about clamps,

as much as Reach-iT changed the way we look at Water Fed Pole design.

Killer local deals last month

Okay, so I have to brag a little bit about what I found on clearance at Menards. First, an 18' telescoping pole (4 sections), with an angle adapter/goose neck and it actually has Euro threads (also came with two angled broom heads, as this was packaged as a cobweb duster for ceilings). They were $6.00! Pretty rigid aluminum, but it does have the twist fittings, so somewhere in between consumer grade and professional grade. Should make a decent backup water fed pole up to 2 stories.

14 - 2.jpg

Secondly, bamboo rags. These were were in 3 packs for 30 cents so the rags were $0.10 a piece! They don't seem to be lint free on my first dry run, but maybe after a washing they will be.

14 - 1.jpg

Lastly, a poor mans doodle bug for $2.00. These are Grime Boss floor mops with a click connection, but I found a quick and cheap way to adapt them to a tapered handle (a chunk of 3/4" id rubber hose). They aren't velcro but the type that wraps around and has those push/snag ports on the corners. Haven't figured out how to get a white scrub to attach yet.

Wagtail advice

So I've been using my 14" wagtail combi a lot today, only thing I'm not able to do up to my standards is close out well on a pole.

Ive been using it as strictly with the modified flip over the top mop cover and it was perfect. Last night I switched it back to the factory settings and have used it as a hand tool today as well.

Are there any accessories that I can get to for a pole to make the closing out easier? Maybe an angle adapter or something?
